Eventually I passed through Canterbury and wound up in Constantinople. One of the places I plan to visit in my Paris stop-over en route to the Camino is Eglise Russe Saint-Alexandre Nevski at 12 rue Daru. From what I'm told, it's quite a beautiful church.peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02986013363903580436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326666787632802888.post-92218179529110027022009-10-24T01:30:12.622+02:002009-10-24T01:30:12.622+02:00Your talent in writing is only exceeded by your de...Your talent in writing is only exceeded by your depth of thinking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326666787632802888.post-12786353915634657662009-08-11T22:07:40.088+02:002009-08-11T22:07:40.088+02:00Ah, someone else who reads Annie Dillard! My memories of An expedition to the Pole were different though, more a commentary on dropping pretentions that weren't helpful (like silverware in the arctic), which she was forced to confront when the protestant guitars followed her into Mass. I love that essay as it broke down my cynicism about protestant guitars and reminded me that meeting God was the point of it all.toddnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326666787632802888.post-68252150930521762352009-07-23T02:31:49.760+02:002009-07-23T02:31:49.760+02:00Would it hearten you to know that I assign "A...Would it hearten you to know that I assign "An Expedition to the Pole" to my students to read for a class on worship every September. Few actually read it, and fewer still get the point, but I think it's better than volumes of the more erudite stuff. And, oh yes, I never did get to hear Latin chanted at Notre Dame, but Sacre Coeur had something of the same effect on me.<br />Cheers, Same-anonymous-as-beforeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326666787632802888.post-305035964781376582009-07-21T16:05:38.706+02:002009-07-21T16:05:38.706+02:00i breathe deeper just listening to your descriptio...i breathe deeper just listening to your description ....just what the heart desires.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10216109371201157012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326666787632802888.post-3721716486726494482009-07-21T03:06:34.753+02:002009-07-21T03:06:34.753+02:00sounds like you have arrived at
